During a routine inspection
During the inspection we spoke with the practice manager, a dental nurse and a dentist. We looked at policies and procedures, audits, satisfaction surveys and computer patient records and staff files including training information. Whilst at the dental practice we spoke with four people who were registered with the service. We telephoned one person after our visit to ask for their views of this dental practice. Everyone we spoke with was happy with the treatment received. One person said, "The dentist is brilliant, first class". People told us that they could get an appointment when they needed one and said that surgery was always clean and tidy.
Patient records showed details of consultations held and treatment received. The practice manager said that the dentist is very good at looking after people's teeth. One person we spoke with confirmed this and said, "He gives a lot of thought to the job so that he does the best for your teeth".
We saw records to demonstrate that equipment was maintained. Staff were seen wearing appropriate personal protective equipment such as aprons and gloves which helped reduce the risk of cross infection.
Arrangements were in place to monitor the quality of care. This helped to ensure that patients received a high standard of treatment.
