During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 20 September 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. The practice is in North Baddesley, Hampshire and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienists, and the deputy manager.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with the principal dentist, practice manager, staff and five patients who had booked treatment on the day we visited the practice.

Patients' needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual needs.

Staff were able to describe the decontamination process to us and explain the dirty to clean workflow which they adhered to within a designated decontamination area of two surgeries at the practice.

The design, layout and security of the premises were fit for purpose and safely met the needs of everyone receiving care and treatment including those with disabilities. Emergency evacuation procedures were in place and records showed drills were

practised.

Patients told us that they were very happy with the care and treatment received. Examples of the comments made were "Friendly and efficient receptionist" and "Very professional and helpful." One patient told us that members of their family who live abroad still use this dentist for 'check ups' when they visit this country.
