Lifeways Community Care Ltd (Leicester) is a supported living service providing a regulated activity of personal care. The service was providing care and support to people in their own homes. We carried out this assessment due to concerns we received about keeping people safe and the management of the service. We completed our assessment from 15 April to 25 April 2024. We assessed a total of 10 quality statements from the safe, effective, responsive and well-led key questions and found areas of good practice and concern. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. Though the assessment of these 10 quality statements indicated areas of concern and good practice since the last inspection, our overall rating remains good. The inspection team included 2 inspectors and an Expert by Experience. An Expert by Experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service. We received feedback from the local authority quality monitoring team. During the assessment process we visited 4 supported living houses and spoke with 7 people and 4 relatives. We observed how people were being cared for and supported. The service is a specialist service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.
