People told us they could choose how they spent their days and about how staff supported them. One person told us 'I can't fault it on anything', another person said 'staff know how to help here'. A person told us staff always came on time with their medicines and gave them the correct tablets. People said staff knew how to look after them. One person told us 'they all seem to be well trained'. People said they were listened to by the new manager. One person told us they had been able to bring a matter up with the new manager and discus their concerns with them. We observed people on the dementia care unit. Staff supported people in an appropriate manner and were friendly and approachable. Staff also took time to ensure people had understood what they were saying. We observed care workers assisting people to mobilise. They made sure people were safe and they understood why and how assistance was being given.
Staff told us about their training and support. One member of staff told us 'we have lots of training, it's fine'. Another member of staff described their supervisor as 'very supportive and knowledgeable'. We had received information that two members of staff were not referred to a relevant authority for consideration of inclusion on their list. All persons deemed to not be suitable to work with such people should be referred for consideration.
People living in the home and staff told us there had been difficulties when the home first opened. One person told us they thought there had not been 'enough leadership' for staff. A person told us the home was 'certainly improving now' and a member of staff said they felt they had 'made huge strides', since the new manager was appointed.
