During a routine inspection
We observed staff interactions with detainees and saw that staff were polite and respectful. The detainees we spoke with told us that they had found the staff to be polite and treated them with respect. One detainee said, 'The staff are very nice, I am happy with the service here.'
We looked at the treatment records of 15 detainees. These indicated the treatment or advice that had been provided or was to be provided. There were clearly documented notes about each consultation. In addition to this, template care plans were available to guide staff as to the treatment options available for particular health conditions.
A wide range of audits were being carried out to check the quality of the service in relation to areas such as infection control, health and safety and the quality of recording keeping. These were completed at regular intervals and where any areas for improvement were highlighted these had been dealt with.
