During a routine inspection
We observed that comprehensive information was available about the practice and dental treatments provided, including NHS and private treatment costs. Staff informed us that a variety of communication methods were used to ensure people had the necessary information required to make decisions about their dental care. We saw that people received an initial consultation including a full dental examination and oral cancer screening.
The practice was equipped to deal with foreseeable emergencies with an appropriately stocked resuscitation trolley shared between the other health services provided on site. Training records confirmed that all staff were trained in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and dealing with medical emergencies. We saw that effective infection prevention and control processes were followed to minimise the risk of cross infection.
We saw evidence of continued professional development with staff having attended internal and external training courses applicable to their roles. The practice ensured quality improvement of the service through the performance of twice yearly patient surveys and involvement in regular clinical and non-clinical audits.
