During a routine inspection
We observed care being given and this showed people were relaxed and happy with staff. Staff engaged well with people and spent time doing activities with them if people wanted that. The care people were receiving matched their care plans. Staff we spoke with were aware of important details in care plans and had received training to deal with specific medical conditions that people had.
We found that staff had received training in safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse and procedures were in place to protect people's finances.
The provider's quality assurance procedures were not being followed as a change of provider was due to take place in June 2013. However, the manager and staff spoke with people daily about their needs and if they were happy with their care. We spoke with a family member of a person who used the service. They said they were 'very happy' with the care provided at The Laurels.
