During a routine inspection
Records showed people in the home regularly took up opportunities for exercise, word games, special events celebrations and other activities. People told us staff and the manager frequently asked them if they were satisfied with how the home was run, and if there was anything they wanted to be provided. One person told us '(The manager) is very approachable and the owner looks in sometimes.'
Records showed staff were alert to indicators of ill health. There was efficient internal reporting and timely referrals to GPs and other health professionals.
People told us they felt safe living in the home. Staff told us they received training in recognising signs of possible abuse and how to report concerns. Newly recruited staff spent time shadowing experienced staff. A person who lived in the home told us about a new member of staff who was 'introduced properly and helped by other staff.'
A visitor to the home told us the provider consulted with people in the home and relatives. A staff member told us the provider 'shows a real interest in the home.' Staff said they felt well supported.
