Independence, choice and control
Staff were aware of person-centred care and the importance of promoting independence as much as possible. Leaders told us visitors were welcome at any time and the only request is if they were arriving after 8pm, to let the night staff know prior to their arrival as the home was locked.
People were able to have friends and family visit whenever they wished. We observed relatives visiting the home during mealtimes to sit with people and support them to eat. People told us they were encouraged to do as much for themselves as they could.
Leaders told us they had developed a new policy for visiting, post Covid pandemic, in line with new Government regulation from April 2024. People had their own care plans, which were personalised and had been regularly reviewed by staff. We found staff had recorded information sensitively and in a person-centred way.
