People’s needs were assessed and reviewed regularly. This helped to ensure their needs continued to be met. Best practice was followed when carrying out assessments and this included involving people, their relatives and healthcare professionals. The provider built personalised services around people’s choices and consent and followed best practice around mental capacity.

People’s needs were assessed and met. People and their relatives participated in assessments and advocates were used to support this when necessary. Staff supported people with regular reviews to ensure that changing needs were identified.

Staff participated in people’s needs assessments and understood the support they required. Care plans guided staff on how to meet people’s assessed needs safely and in line with their preferences.

We received positive feedback from health professional partners with regards to the relationship with Brandon trust. One professional said, "We find Brandon Trust to be responsive, caring, and meticulous in the service provided to the people they support and in their response to us the local authority."

People had individual care plans which provided staff with the information they required to meet people's needs. People’s needs were assessed before they received a service and regularly thereafter. People consented to the support they received. Where required, people were supported with advocates and best interests’ meetings were arranged to ensure their needs were safely met.

Staff sought people’s consent at all times before providing care and support. They received training around mental capacity to do this. People’s communication needs were supported to enable them to make choices and give consent. Registered managers made referrals were necessary to healthcare professionals to assess people’s communication needs and ensured staff followed their recommendations.

The provider built personalised services around people’s choices and consent and followed best practice around mental capacity. This included the presumption of capacity, carrying out mental capacity assessments and making the appropriate applications for deprivation of liberty safeguards.
