A family member explained: 'The staff are really good, the best there's ever been, I am really pleased with them and he is very happy there.'
Throughout our visit, people were supported to be as independent as possible and were encouraged to do as much for themselves as they could. When help and support was needed, we saw the staff providing this, in an open and relaxed manner.
People were encouraged and supported to be involved in community activities. On the day of our visit both users of the service were supported to access the local shops, including the local barbers. We did note that on the day of our visit, the vehicle normally used to transport those using the service, was out of action and so local transport was used.
We identified that support workers had not always followed safeguarding processes with regard to the reporting of untoward incidents.
Care plans and person centred plans had been developed for those using the service. Those seen provided an overall picture of the individual, identified their care and support needs and included their likes and dislikes and their strengths and abilities.
