During a routine inspection

Limecroft provided short stay respite care for up to 20 people with dementia related conditions. 19 service users were resident on the day of the inspection. We spoke to two service users and three family members. We spoke to three members of staff.

The atmosphere at Limecroft was relaxed and friendly; we observed service users and staff engaged in conversations and activities.

The home had garden areas and parking. Accommodation was provided on two floors. There was a passenger lift. All rooms were single and some were en-suite. There were several lounge areas and activities areas. There was a cinema room and memorabilia was displayed around the home although this was not observed to reflect ethnic diversity and the provider may wish to consider addressing this. A hairdresser visited fortnightly. Community links were maintained via activities provision from local groups.

Leaflets on safeguarding, feedback and complaints were displayed in the foyer.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit, there were 13 people staying at the service and we heard that a further two people were expected later that day. We saw that the people staying at the home had complex health care needs such as dementia and some people had physical health care needs.

We spoke with five people staying at the service and with one relative. People were unable to tell us in detail about their experiences of staying there but one person said 'The staff are smashing. Anything you need you just need to ask for it'. Two other people said that 'The majority of staff were okay' but some were either 'Very off hand with you' or 'More interested in getting the job done'.

People told us that the food was 'Very good' and 'Okay' and we heard that the cleaner did a 'Thumping good job'.

One relative we spoke with said they found the staff to be 'Very nice and helpful'.

We spoke with a mental health professional who arranged placements at the service. We heard that they had no concerns about the service being provided.
