Our view of the service
Carers Direct Homecare Ltd a domiciliary care agency providing personal care for people living in their own homes in the community. The service provides care to older people, those living with dementia, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. The assessment included a visit to the service on 13 and 15 March 2024. We looked at 4 quality statements; safe systems, pathways and transitions; involving people to manage risks; safe and effective staffing, and medicines optimisation. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and or who are autistic. The service met this guidance. Staff told us they were well supported in their roles and there were enough staff to support people safely. Staff had received training and demonstrated a good understanding of their responsibilities to support people to manage risks. However, people’s records were not always kept up to date and consequently did not accurately reflect people’s needs. This was not always identified by the provider’s systems and processes. We have identified breaches of regulation in relation to people’s safe care and treatment and governance during this assessment. We requested an action plan from the provider.
