During a routine inspection
Because of the nature of the service, we did not speak directly to people who used the service. instead we looked in detail at the care and treatment of three children and young people who had recently used the service. We also looked at feedback provided by young people and relatives about their experiences of using the service. From the feedback we looked at, one young person said, 'You were all so caring and thoughtful', another said, 'I was very happy with the service' and a third young person said, 'Everything was explained well'. Other comments included, 'Very clean and child friendly' and, 'You were wonderful, you gave us the time to talk and take things in, which was what we needed'.
We found children and young people and their relatives who used the service were treated with sensitivity and their privacy and dignity was respected. People's care and welfare was paramount in how the service was provided. Each aspect of the assessment and examination was undertaken at a pace suited to the young person's needs and their agreement was sought at each stage. Staff were experienced and skilled in the specialist service provided. They undertook regular training and development and had regular supervision. People's views about the service were sought and regular audits of various aspects of the service were undertaken. We found any changes and improvements needed were implemented.
