Updated 17 October 2024
Date of assessment 25 November to 11 December 2024. Cressington Court Care Home is a residential care home providing care for up to 56 people. The service provides support to older people including people living with dementia. Our last assessment of this service took place between 18 March and 16 April 2024, were we found the service to be in breach of Regulation 12 (safe, care and treatment) and Regulation 17 (good governance) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008. We assessed a total of 34 quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. This service has been in Special Measures since 16 April 2024. The provider demonstrated improvements have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures. The assessment of these 34 quality statements indicated areas of good and improved practice since the last assessment. The overall rating has now improved to requires improvement. Although significant improvements had been made since the last assessment, further time was required to embed improved practices. Although governance systems were effective at identifying any shortfalls in practice, actions to make improvements had not always been assigned a responsible person or date for completion. This meant it was difficult to determine whether an action had been completed from one audit to the next. People’s care plans didn’t always contain sufficient person-centred detail and some information was inconsistent. Applications to deprive a person of their liberty had not always been made in a timely manner. Risks to people were adequately mitigated as assessment processes were effective in identifying and risks. People received their medicines on time and in a safe way. For people who were prescribed PRN medicines (as and when required), protocols were in place to ensure people received these appropriately.
