During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 22 January 2025. We found the practice had met regulations. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks, however improvements could be made regarding the practice health and safety risk assessment and risks associated with sharps. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. The practice is in Denton, Greater Manchester and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 1 treatment room. The total number of staff was 6. During the assessment we spoke with 1 orthodontist, 3 dental nurses and 1 dental nurse was also the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six patients who attended the practice for appointments. All the patients we spoke with were complementary about the practice and the treatment they received. Some of the comments included:

"The staff are very friendly and accommodating. They try to fit you in at a time that is suitable."

"The treatment has been good. Waiting times are reasonable and there are always staff around to answer any questions."

"The service is really good and the staff are respectful."

"Treatment is always explained to me in detail".

Patients we spoke with told us they were treated with dignity and respect and that they had a good relationship with the dentist and the staff. Patients confirmed that medical histories were taken and they had signed their consent to care and treatment. Patients told us that treatment was always explained to them and that they received practical guidance and demonstration on how to manage their treatment.

We found the recently refurbished premises to be clean and hygienic with systems in place to monitor the standards of infection control and to maintain standards in this area. All patients commented on the high standards of cleanliness of the surgery and waiting room areas.
