Our view of the service
Hilltop Court Nursing Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 50 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom live with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 45 people using the service. We looked at 7 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control, Equity in experiences and outcomes, Future Planning, Medicines optimisation and Governance, management and sustainability. Since the last inspection, the provider had improved some of the governance arrangements for the oversight and management of medicines and care records. We found improvements were required to ensure all known risks were appropriately assessed and governance arrangements continued to not be robust. The provider had breached regulation 17 (good governance) and regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. The assessment began on 28 February 2024 and was concluded on 13 March 2024.
People's experience of this service
People generally appeared content and people and families spoke positively about staff. One family told us, “The staff seem very nice and will answer any questions for me.” However, people were not always dressed with clothes that belonged to them and families felt there was not always enough opportunities for people to be engaged and stimulated.
