People who use the service understood the care and treatment choices available to them. They said that treatment options were explained to them and that they were able to ask questions if they were unsure about anything. One person said "they communicate well, I would be able to ask questions". People were happy with the care and treatment they received. Comments included "the care is excellent" and "I was treated very well." We looked at four people's records regarding chronic disease planning, care and advice. There was evidence that a plan was discussed with patients and appropriate referrals made.
The service had a child protection policy which included details of who to contact if there were any child protection concerns. However, people were at risk of abuse as staff had not received appropriate training about safeguarding vulnerable adults and the service did not have a relevant policy in place. The provider has taken steps to provide care in an environment that is suitably designed and adequately maintained.
Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work. The service had a written complaints procedure. However most of the people we spoke with were not aware of it. Complaints received were managed effectively.
