Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 23 July to 30 July 2024. This assessment was carried out in response to information we had received about the service. Treetops Nursing Home is a care home providing personal care and accommodation for to up to 34 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom live with physical disabilities and sensory impairments. At the time of our assessment there were 33 people using the service. During the assessment we spoke with 10 members of staff including the registered manager, provider, nurses, senior care workers, care workers and the chef. People were protected from the risks of abuse and staff were trusted to keep them safe. The provider had policies and procedures in place for safeguarding to protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff were recruited safely and had the necessary safety checks in place before starting work. Staff received an induction when they first started working at the service and training relevant to their roles. Suitable staffing arrangements were in place. People gave positive feedback about the staff who supported them and the management team. People were encouraged by staff to remain as independent as possible and were given appropriate support to do so. Care plans promoted people’s right to independence and choice. Person-centred care was promoted. Staff knew people’s support needs and preferences well. The service worked in partnership with other professionals to meet people’s needs. Referrals were made to other medical services when required. Complaints had been responded to. The provider had an appropriate whistleblowing policy in place to support staff to raise concerns. There were governance systems in place to monitor the quality of service. The service had an effective audit system in place which assisted them in identifying areas of improvement.

People's experience of this service

During the assessment we spoke with 7 people who used the service and 1 relative about their experiences of the care provided. People felt safe living at the service. People gave positive feedback about the staff who supported them and the management team. People told us they were supported to make choices and were satisfied with the support they received from the staff. People knew who the management were and thought they are approachable. People told us they were happy with the care and did not have any complaints.
