People who used the service were very positive in their comments about the staff from Sanctuary Supported Living (Tees Valley Care Services). We spoke with three people during the course of the visit who lived in two separate properties across Darlington and they said;'I would talk to my support workers if I was worried about anything. They always ask if things are ok' and 'I've just been out for a bike ride with my support worker and we also play badminton'.
We looked at staff recruitment and found that the organisation had a policy and procedure in place for making sure there were checks carried out on people applying to work at the service. Staff members were positive about their induction process.
We found that support plans and risk assessments for people were not reviewed regularly and in some cases information about peoples needs was not recorded. This could mean that care or support was not provided in the way that it should be, and people and staff could be at risk. Because records were not reviewed regularly this meant that the quality assurance process for the service was not good enough.
