During a routine inspection
Patients told us they were happy with the treatment and the service they received and were fully involved in discussions and decisions about their treatment. Patients also told us they were happy with the appointments system. Comments included, "I can get an appointment quickly and without any fuss" and 'I can see the GP that I want to see'.
Patients made positive comments about the staff. Comments included, "All of the staff are polite and friendly', "I get on well with the receptionists" and 'We have two very good doctors".
The practice had developed policies and procedures for dealing with allegations of abuse although records showed staff had not yet undertaken appropriate training in 'safeguarding adults'. Training would help staff to recognise and act when patients were at risk of abuse or neglect. We were assured this training was being 'booked'.
There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service however, it was not clear how patient's views had been taken into account in the way the service was provided.
We found the systems to ensure all staff were suitable to work with patients needed to be improved. We also found that appraisal of staff and communication between all staff needed to be improved as this could impact on the day to day management of the service.
