Stainland Road Medical Centre is located at 70 Stainland Road, Halifax, HX4 8BD.
The practice is registered with the Care Quality Commission to carry out the following regulated activities:
- Treatment of disease, disorder or injury
- Maternity and midwifery services
- Family planning
- Surgical procedures
- Diagnostic and screening procedures
There are currently 11,334 patients registered at the practice. The practice provides General Medical Services (GMS) under a locally agreed contract with NHS England.
The Public Health National General Practice Profile shows that around 3% of the practice population are of Asian or mixed ethnicity, with the remainder being of white British or Irish origin. The demographics of the the patient population is largely in line with national averages. The level of deprivation within the practice population is rated as seven, on a scale of one to ten. Level one represents the highest levels of deprivation, and level ten the lowest.
The average life expectancy for patients at the practice is 79 years for men and 83 years for women, which is the same as the national average.
The practice offers a range of enhanced services including the fitting of long-term reversible contraceptives, and minor surgical procedures.
There are six GP partners, four male and two female. The clinical team is completed by two female advanced nurse practitioners, one female locum advanced clinical practitioner, three practice nurses, one health care assistant and two phlebotomists, all of whom are female. At the time of our inspection the practice was in the process of recruiting an additional practice nurse, and seeking to appoint the locum advanced clinical practitioner into a substantive post.
The clinical team is supported by a practice manager, two office managers, a data quality manager as well as a range of reception, administrative and secretarial staff.
The practice is a training practice, which means it supports the specialised training of qualified doctors wishing to specialise in general practice. At the time of our visit three registrars were being supported by the two practice GP trainers.
The practice is part of Pennine GP Alliance, a federation of general practices within the Calderdale area, and is also part of Calder and Ryburn Primary Care Network (PCN). One of the GPs acts as clinical director for the PCN.
The practice opening times are Monday to Friday 8am to 6.30pm. The practice is accessible to patients with reduced mobility or those who use a wheelchair. Public transport links are accessible, and parking is available on site.
Out of hours care is provided by Local Care Direct which is accessed by calling the surgery telephone number, or by calling the NHS 111 service.
When we returned to the practice, we checked, and saw that the ratings from the previous inspection were displayed, as required, on the practice premises and on their website.
