People's experience of the service

Updated 28 October 2024

People were positive about the quality of their care they or their relative received. People were supported by staff who knew them well, arrived when expected and stayed for the agreed amount of time. This supported people’s confidence as they had a good relationship with the staff supporting them. One person said, “Staff tend to come at quite regular times and if there is any delay then the office phone me to let me know.” All those we spoke with stated staff treated them with dignity and respect. People were involved in the development of their individual care and support plans. These plans took account of what they could do for themselves and what they needed assistance with. One relative said their family member wrote their own care plan with the support of the carers. This was then updated as their needs changed. People told us the staff supporting them were knowledgeable and skilled. One relative told us the staff were knowledgeable about their family member’s medical conditions and preferences which gave them reassurance and confidence. People felt safe from the risks of ill treatment or abuse. Everyone we spoke with told us they felt comfortable reporting anything they felt was not right. The service supported openness and was responsive to comments and suggestions for improvement. The management team acted promptly if concerns were raised, in order to keep people safe. People, and relatives said they were regularly asked for their views and opinions on the care they received and felt their comments were valued by the service.
