Our view of the service
The Shrubbery Nursing Home is a care home providing care and nursing for up to 38 older people, some of whom live with dementia or physical disabilities. The service was last inspected on 31 July 2019 and rated Requires Improvement. This assessment was prompted by information we held about the service. We carried out our on-site assessment on 11 June 2024. Off site assessment activity started on 3 July 2024 and ended on 11 July 2024. We looked at 28 quality statements including learning culture, safe systems, pathways and transitions, involving people to manage risks, infection prevention and control, medicine optimisation, assessing needs; consent to care and treatment, freedom to speak up and governance, management and sustainability.
People's experience of this service
Overall people told us they felt safe and happy living at the service. People reported staff responded well to calls for assistance and felt staff understood their individual needs. A person said, “The staff are good. I have no worries.” People and their relatives knew who to speak with if they had any concerns. People and their relatives told us they had no concerns about how staff supported them with their medicines. Relatives told us they were kept fully informed and were involved in their loved one’s care. People and relatives told us they were supported and looked after by kind, caring, competent and compassionate staff and they received the support they needed.
