Equity in access
Feedback provided in response to the National GP Patient Survey in April 2023 and the NHS.uk website indicated that staff treated people with dignity and respect, and patients were happy with appointment times. However, we also found that people experienced difficulty in getting through to the practice by telephone and patient satisfaction with access was on a downward trend.
Staff understood the importance of providing an inclusive approach to care and made adjustments to support equity in people’s experience and outcomes. The practice told us they had plans to improve engagement with patients by reconvening their Patient Participation Group (PPG). The practice was also a member of a Primary Care Network (PCN) and made use of feedback obtained by the PCN.
The provider had processes in place to ensure people could register at the practice, including those in vulnerable circumstances such as homeless people and Travelers. A range of appointments were available to meet individual patient needs.
