Our view of the service

We carried out an announced assessment on 3 to 6 June 2024. Delapre Medical Centre is an NHS GP practice located in Northampton in an area of mid deprivation. There were approximately 19,546 patients registered with the service at the time of the assessment. We conducted this assessment because the practice had a previous inadequate rating and had been placed in special measures. We assessed all the quality statements for the safe, effective and well-led key questions. At this assessment we found actions had been taken to address the areas of concern identified at the previous inspection in July 2023. The full comprehensive reports of the July 2023 inspection can be found by selecting the ‘all reports’ link for Delapre Medical Centre on our website at www.cqc.org.uk This service was placed in Special Measures on 14 August 2023. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.

People's experience of this service

We reviewed feedback from patients regarding experiences of care. At the time of the assessment we received feedback from 3 patients from the CQC website Give Feedback on Care forms. Of these, 2 patients were positive regarding the reception staff stating they were kind, reassuring and helpful; 1 person gave negative feedback regarding getting an appointment for a family member and staff attitude. There had been 2 reviews on the NHS Website in the 12 months prior to the assessment that were negative regarding booking an appointment. Following the assessment, there have been 5 positive reviews regarding appointment booking including, the use of the online appointment booking system, and the care received by the GPs. The National GP patient survey results published in July 2024 showed that people were mostly satisfied with the services offered. Feedback from the Patient Participation Group (PPG) was positive. They commented they felt listened to and kept informed of what was taking place in the practice.
