Date of assessment 19 March to 29 March 2024. This assessment was to follow up on information of concern we had received regarding the general quality of care at Abbots Lawn. During the assessment, we did not find any evidence of concern, the service had improved and was well governed. Improvements had been made to the way medicines were managed and the oversight of this. The provider was now also working within the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and was strongly advocating for people to have maximum choice and control in their lives. Staff demonstrated a good knowledge of safeguarding and how to protect people for the risk of harm. People’s care was personalised to them, and staff delivered care in a way important to the person. Risks had been assessed and were suitably managed in a least restrictive manner. The provider had a strong focus on supporting the well-being of people who used the service and the staff working at Abbots Lawn. Staff spoke positively about the open culture at the service and the opportunities to learn. The registered manager had good oversight through a range of quality assurance processes which were utilised to continually drive improvement at the home.
