Updated 6 May 2024
We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 13 June 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks for patients, staff, equipment and the premises. We found minor shortfalls in appropriately assessing and mitigating risks in relation to environmental cleaning equipment storage, wheelchair accessibility of toilet facilities, medical emergency equipment and prescription stock controls. All of the shortfalls we identified have been addressed and rectified. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. The practice is in Portishead and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 2 dental hygienists, 1 dental therapists, 1 periodontist, a treatment coordinator (who is also a qualified dental nurse), a deputy clinic manager (who is also a qualified dental nurse), clinic manager and 2 receptionists.
