Date of assessment: 6 Aug to 14 Aug 2024. The assessment was undertaken following information of concern which we received in relation to infection prevention and control, and the governance at the home. During this assessment, we identified 2 breaches of regulation. One in relation to the premises and equipment, and another in relation to good governance. The provider had not ensured that the premises was clean, well maintained and equipment was in good working order. For example, most people we spoke with expressed concern about the lift regularly being out of order. During our observations, we found that some equipment was worn and difficult to keep clean, and a number of surfaces were sticky to touch. A member of staff also fell on a slippery floor during our visit, this was not the first time this had happened. Quality assurance processes were lacking both detail and consistency, and potential opportunities to drive improvement had been missed. For example, some people’s care plans had not been reviewed and lacked certain detail. Whilst we did not see any direct negative impact to people, there was a risk of care not being delivered in line with their needs and wishes. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment. Staff treated people with kindness and respect. They demonstrated a good knowledge of safeguarding and knew what to do should an accident or incident occur. People were supported to access external agencies should these be required.
