Date of assessment: 31 October 2024.
Liverpool Skin Clinic is operated by Liverpool Skin Clinic Limited. The service is based in Mossley Hill, Liverpool and provides hair transplant cosmetic surgery and platelet-rich plasma hair restoration therapy for private fee-paying adults. We inspected the service as a follow up from our previous inspection where we issued the service with a warning notice. We assessed 32 quality statements from our Single Assessment Framework across all key questions and have not combined scores from the last inspection. We found 3 breaches of regulation relating to safe care and treatment, premises and equipment and good governance. The inspection team was made up of an operations manager, an inspector and an infection control specialist nurse advisor. At this inspection we found the service isn’t performing as well as it should, and we have told the service how it must improve. There was an understanding of some the safety risks but attempts to mitigate and control them were not always clearly developed or understood. People were able to give feedback, but it was not clear how this was used to make service improvements. There were gaps in governance and management systems, which prevented leaders from having full oversight of information about risks, performance and outcomes. This limited opportunities to identify improvement to care. However, we found that the service worked in harmony, with people at the centre of their care. We have changed the rating of this service from inadequate to requires improvement.
