Our view of the service
Clifton Lodge is a residential care home. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. Clifton Lodge is a care home with nursing care. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. Clifton Lodge provides accommodation for up to 35 older people including those living with dementia. The accommodation is set on 1 level and is spacious with different areas for people to meet, individual rooms and enclosed gardens to access. There were a total of 34 people living at the service at the time of our assessment. We carried out our on-site assessment on 9 January 2025, off site assessment activity started on 7 January 2025 and ended on 22 January 2025. The assessment was completed to follow up on the last assessment to see if improvements had been made. We found the service had made improvements and are no longer in breach of regulations. Staff now assessed and managed risks to people safely. The registered manager now had systems in place to monitor the service and provide good oversight to monitor and improve outcomes for people. This assessment was unannounced.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives were very complimentary of the care they received at Clifton Lodge. Relatives told us staff were very professional and communicated well with them. We heard positive comments about how caring staff had been. Some people could not directly tell us about their experience. We used a structured observational tool to assess whether people had received good care. This approach showed people were included and listened to and staff consistently interacted positively with them.
