During a routine inspection
We found that the provider carried out a health assessment when a person entered the prison and anybody requiring a care plan received one that reflected the assessment of their needs.
We found that staff were appropriately supported through training, appraisal and opportunities to further career development in specialist training. The provider operated a comprehensive clinical governance programme that allowed for appropriate monitoring of quality and evidence based policy review.
We saw that the healthcare facility was kept clean and tidy and systems were in place to reduce the risk of infection. However, we also noted that some items such as clinical handwash sinks were not to the prevailing standard. The provider had a refurbishment plan and we were able to see a consulting room that was to the standard the rest of the facility would be refurbished to.
This inspection was carried out at the same time as an announced inspection by Her Majesty's Inspector of Prisons.
