During a routine inspection
We found that the premises were clean and tidy. Patients said that this clinic was a long way to travel for some people, but was easier than going to the Medway Hospital at Gillingham if they lived in the Tunbridge Wells area. They said that the staff were kind and friendly, and it was helpful to see the same doctor at each visit. One person said 'I never expected to need any treatment like this; but it has to be done, and the staff here are always very pleasant and helpful.'
The nursing and care staff were provided by the Medway Maritime Hospital dermatology department, and staff took it in turns to work at this unit. The staff on duty said that it was a pleasant place to work, and made a change from working at the hospital, and helped them to develop different skills.
We saw that records were well maintained, and there were suitable systems in place to ensure the right records were sent across from the main hospital dermatology department.
