During a routine inspection
We found that people felt the in-reach mental health team provided a good service. People said 'The in-reach staff seem to know what they are about' and 'They are helping me to get a place at a hospital, it is taking some time but the nurses seem to be busy on sorting this out'. People said the general healthcare staff who provided crisis intervention and visited their cells when they were distressed, were very approachable and supportive. The prison does not have an in-patient care unit, but all of the people we met felt the available support was sufficient to meet their needs. They told us that the disciplinary officers were also supported them at times of crisis. People said 'The healthcare staff are helpful and there are some very keen staff. If you need more help you get seen by the in-reach team who will visit you quickly' and 'I see the in-reach team nearly every week but if they are not around the officers or healthcare staff are always there'.
