17 March 2021
We carried out this inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. This inspection was planned to check whether the provider is meeting the legal requirements and regulations associated with the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
As part of CQC’s response to the coronavirus pandemic we are looking at the preparedness of care homes in relation to infection prevention and control. This was a targeted inspection looking at the infection control and prevention measures the provider has in place.
This inspection took place on 25 February 2021 and was announced.

Lynwood Lodge is a residential care home registered for 24 people. Lynwood was providing personal care to 14 people aged 65 and over at the time of the inspection.
Lynwood is a large Victorian building, with 20 single rooms and two shared rooms. All rooms have en-suite toilets, with most also having an ensuite shower. There are two lounge areas with dining tables. There is lift access to the two main floors, with stair lift access to other areas of the home.
We found the following examples of good practice.
¿ There was a stable staff team and no agency staff had been used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
¿ Staff members had received training in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
¿ People had been supported to keep in touch with their relatives through window visits, phone and video calls. Garden visits had been arranged in the summer when local guidelines had allowed these. Plans were being written for relative visits after the change in government guidance due to come into effect in March 2021.
¿ People were supported to self isolate when they returned from a hospital appointment or admission. One member of staff was allocated to support the person on each shift.
¿ Staff said they felt well supported by the registered manager and were given all the information they needed if guidelines changed.
¿ The home said they were well supported by medical professionals and local authority.
