Delivering evidence-based care and treatment
People we spoke with told us the service involved them in the planning of their care and treatment. The service held monthly community meetings for patients and the service ensured people had access to activities. Most feedback received from patients and relatives indicated that care was delivered in line with people's needs. Where patients or relatives raised concerns, the provider investigated this.
The service used a range of evidence-based tools and rating scales recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. The staff we spoke with were positive about the training they received, how this prepared them to undertake their role and improve the way care was delivered to people. Managers had a clear vision regarding least restrictive practices, enhancing communication through both de-escalation and use of methods such as Makaton.
The service delivered care and treatment in line with legislation and current evidence-based good practice and standards. The hospital provided a range of care and treatment suitable for the patients in the service and made sure patients had access to physical health care, including specialists as required. Managers reviewed the standard of care through regular audits.
