Our view of the service

Date of assessment 3 October to 18 October 2024. We carried out this assessment at The London Welbeck Hospital due to concerns that we received regarding an unexpected death of a patient, following a surgical procedure carried out at the service. We inspected seven quality statements across the safe, effective and well-led key questions. We found several concerns and breaches of regulation relating to infection prevention and control, the management of medicines and governance processes.

People's experience of this service

Patients, their families and carers expressed general satisfaction with the care and treatment received. Patients, their families and carers we spoke with recommended the service. They felt staff treated them with warmth and kindness and that communication from staff was good. However, our assessment found elements of care did not meet the expected standards.
