Staff understood how to meet people’s assessed needs. Care plans were sufficiently detailed, and staff provided support as planned. Staff told us “[The digital care planning system] is very accessible and easy to read. They do make an effort to keep it up to date. I have always been able to find any info I need” and “[The digital system] is good, all the care plans are up to date. The seniors make sure the information is there if we need it.”

Where specific risks were identified in relation to people’s needs, staff were provided guidance via the digital care planning system on the actions they must take to ensure people’s safety. These assessments were regularly reviewed, and there were systems in place to ensure staff were updated each day on any observed changes in people’s support needs.

The service had robust systems in place for the assessment of people’s needs before they moved in. The registered manager completed an initial assessment based on information gathered from relatives, any previous care provider and care commissioners. Initial care plans were developed from the information gathered during the assessment process.
