Responsive – this means we looked for evidence that the service met people’s needs. At this inspection we rated this key question as good. This meant people’s needs were met through good organisation and delivery. People received a personalised service and were able to access any external resources they needed without barriers or delays. People were supported to live their lives as they chose, without discrimination. We did not assess all the quality statements within this key question, as we did not identify concerns relating to those areas which we judged as being met at our last inspection.

Person-centred Care

People’s needs were met in a personalised way. People and their relatives were involved in care planning and reviews of their care. Relatives said the service was responsive to people’s needs.

The registered manager and staff explained that person centred care and treating people as individuals was the focus for everything they did. The person-centred nature of care provided was reflected in the information contained in people’s care plans. Staff knew the people they were caring for and treated them as individuals. Staff were knowledgeable about what people liked and what their preferences were and how best to meet them. People had different communication needs and therefore staff tailored communication methods to each individual as appropriate.
