Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control
The service promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Supporting people to maintain and regain their independence and live well in their own homes was important for the service. Staff were committed to supporting people and told us various ways about how they valued and supported people. Relatives told us the service gave them peace of mind and was valuable to them. A member of staff told us, “It is important to help people with independence, it gives them a sense of purpose and maintains their abilities. It helps with their mental health and wellbeing. We try to promote this with the smallest of task, for example to see if they can wash their own face, you assess the situation on every visit as there may be a change to what they can and can’t do.” Records showed people were involved in their care and support plans.
