This service scored 62 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Person-centred Care
People and relatives told us they were supported and respected as an individual and received person centred care.
Staff spoke about people as individuals and embraced the principles of person-centered care and support. Staff were able to give examples of how they responded to people's wishes and preferences. There were a range of activities available to people and the activity coordinator explained how they talked with people about their interests to plan things they enjoyed. They said this had a positive impact on people. They told us how they adapted sessions to support individuals. For example, they had sourced a talking book for 1 person whose vision was limited.
Staff practices with people were not always person-centred. For example, people often needed to wait for care and support, interactions were minimal at times and did not support people to engage and activities were not always inline with their needs, wishes and preferences.

Equity in experiences and outcomes
People and relatives told us they received person-centred care. 1 relative said, "The staff are really caring and treat [name of relative] as an individual."
The provider obtained the views of people, relatives and staff to improve the quality of the service. 1 of the main themes from the survey in 2023 was the lack of activities available to people. As a result of this, the provider recruited an activity coordinator and developed an in-house programme of activities. A local Pastor visited the service regularly for those who wished to follow a faith. 1 person who had not previously followed a faith requested a visit from a vicar when they were at the end of their life and this was facilitated.
People's care records showed processes were in place to promote the health and well-being of people. Communication plans were in place which detailed any specific requirements, as well as mental health and dementia care plans. The quality of these records needed to be more consistent. Records demonstrated care was being provided to people with all different levels of needs.
