Relatives we spoke to were very positive regarding the care their loved one received. One relative told us, “The staff are wonderful. I go 4-5- times a week and I thank them every time I go. They have so much patience. They are fantastic. They are so lovely. The staff are very well trained and good with all the residents.”

Staff knew people well and demonstrated how they promoted people’s choice and independence. One staff member said, “I am passionate about person centred care, it should always be about personal choices, individual needs and requirements and should never be a one size fits all basis.” Staff told us how they fostered warm and trusting relationships with people and their relatives.

We observed kind and trusting interactions between staff and people. People were supported to maintain their independence. For example, we saw people gently being encouraged to feed themselves by using hand on hand guidance.
