Governance, management and sustainability
At the assessment on 8 October 2024, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulations: The practice had a governance system which included policies, protocols and procedures. These documents were readily available on the day of our inspection and staff knew where to locate them. The service had completed a Data Protection Impact Assessment which documented the purpose and assessed the risks associated with the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) and had ceased to use CCTV within the treatment rooms. The processes for identifying and managing risks and performance had improved. There was improved oversight and monitoring of the risks associated with recruitment of staff, infection prevention and control, management of Legionella, radiography, medicines management, sharps procedures, fire safety and for the control and storage of substances hazardous to health. While the practice had processes for learning, quality assurance and continuous improvement, audits of infection prevention and control, antimicrobial prescribing, and radiography were overdue. The service took immediate action to complete these audits and ensured that each audit reflected current guidance and included documented learning points. Improvements were required to ensure the practice’s governance and leadership arrangements were robust to ensure sustainability in the longer term.
