Our current view of the service
Updated
9 September 2024
We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 16 October 2024.
We found the practice had met regulations.
There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.
The practice had systems to manage risks. A system should be implemented for receiving and responding to patient safety alerts, recalls and rapid response reports.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. However, the provider should ensure Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks are consistently carried out for new staff, and dental nurses are provided with details of indemnity cover arrangements.
The practice is in Sheffield and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice has a car park at the rear of the property. This included dedicated parking for disabled people. There was access for wheelchair users via a portable ramp from the practice car park to the rear entrance.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 3 dentists (including the foundation dentist), 2 dental nurses, 1 dental therapist and the practice manager.

On the day of our assessment, we received feedback from a further 9 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included: “The staff are very friendly and I feel I am in a safe and caring environment.” “Professional, respectful, friendly and always try to accommodate convenient appointment slots” “The whole team is warm and compassionate” and “Caring staff who are always helpful.”
Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.
Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.
Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
