Responsive
People’s care plans fully reflected their physical, mental, emotional and social needs, including those related to protected characteristics under the Equality Act. People and their family and friends were regularly involved in their care planning and decisions about their care were documented clearly and staff followed this guidance. This ensured people received care and outcomes in a person-centred way and in line with their wishes.

Person-centred Care
People told us staff were respectful of their dignity and privacy. One person said, “Staff are great, they ask before they do anything and for example if I need to make a call, they leave the room. I cannot fault them.” A relative of someone using the service said, “Staff phone and update me often and will let me know if anything happens or [relative] is unwell. Its reassuring as they know [relative] so well now.
Staff told us they had time to read people’s care plans and socialise with people to enable them to build trusting relationships. One staff member said, “We have a lot of small talk and banter while I’m there. The social aspect is just, if not more important than the physical care and people respond [positively] when you take the time to really get to know them.”
