Governance, management and sustainability
We looked at the systems in place regarding good governance and found certain improvements were required. For example, we had identified certain shortfalls in relation to support plans and risk assessments, although a formal auditing process was not in place to ensure these concerns were identified and addressed. We received positive feedback from everybody we spoke with about management and leadership. One member of staff told us, “Yes 100% all the managers are very easy to get along with and very approachable.” Another member of staff added, “There is good management and they are supportive and approachable. You can always get in touch if you have any concerns. We have regular supervisions and team meetings where we can give feedback about things.” Regular spot checks took place at the supported living houses where manager could observe staff completing their work. Competency assessments were completed in areas like medication and moving/handling. Staff meeting took place at the houses where important matters about people could be discussed. Supervisions and appraisals were held to ensure staff performance and development could be monitored.
