Our current view of the service

Updated 13 August 2024

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 8 January 2025. We found the practice had not met all regulations. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ consent to care and treatment was obtained in line with legislation and guidance. Complaints were dealt with positively and efficiently. There was a lack of effective leadership, and not all risks associated with undertaking of regulated activities had been suitably identified and mitigated. The practice is in Ringwood and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 9 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 4 dentists, 2 dental nurses, a receptionist, the compliance manager and the practice manager. The provider was not complying with all regulations. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the assessment findings below. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of the service

Updated 13 August 2024

Two weeks before our on-site assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive any feedback. On the day of our assessment, we obtained the views of 17 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care and when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given. Three out of 17 patients told us that they did not know how to complain should they have an issue and 5 told us they did not know how to get emergency dental treatment when the practice was closed. While the people we questioned told us that they were happy with their care, our assessment found there were regulations that were not met.
