Our view of the service

Mountdale Nursing Home is a residential care home. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. Mountdale Nursing Home is a care home with nursing care. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. Mountdale Nursing Home provides accommodation for up to 24 people some of whom may be living with dementia. The accommodation is set over 3 levels and is spacious with different areas for people to meet, individual rooms and a large garden. There were 21 people living at the service at the time of our assessment. We carried out our on-site assessment on 29 January 2025, off site assessment activity started on 27 January 2025 and ended on 31 January 2025. The assessment was completed to follow up on the last assessment to see if improvements had been made. We found the service had made improvements and were no longer in breach of regulation. The registered manager now had governance systems in place to monitor the service and provide good oversight. This assessment was unannounced.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives, we spoke with were complimentary of the staff and service. One person said, “[Registered manager name] told me to just ask for anything I want, and they will organise it.” Another person said, “All the staff are lovely. I know all their names.” A relative said, “We are very happy with the home, we prefer a small home.” Some people could not directly tell us about their experience. We used a structured observational tool to assess whether people received good care. This approach showed people were included and listened to and staff interacted positively with them.
