Date of Assessment: 8 January 2025. Cranwell Court is a care home registered to provide accommodation for persons who require personal care, for up to 58 people, including people living with dementia, physical disabilities and younger adults. At the time of our assessment there were 47 people using the service. The service was last inspected in April 2022, no change to the overall rating of Good was made during that inspection. We completed this responsive assessment under our new methodology. The assessment was prompted in part by notification of an incident following which a service user died. This incident is subject to further investigation by CQC as to whether any regulatory action should be taken. As a result, this inspection did not examine the circumstances of the incident. However, the information shared with CQC about the incident indicated potential concerns about the management of risk of Legionella. This assessment examined those risks. This assessment was completed by 1 inspector. We assessed 2 quality statements within 2 key questions. We spoke with 4 people who lived at the home. We spoke with 8 staff including an operations manager, registered manager, deputy managers, care assistants and maintenance staff. Staff were attentive to people’s safety; however, improvements were required in risk management of safe environments. Systems to assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of the service were operated; however, some improvements were required in ensuring timely action was taken. We observed positive, warm and respectful interactions between people using the service and staff. Staff felt supported and told us they would feel confident raising any concerns or issues.
