People and relatives spoke of the personalised support they received, which included their pursuit of hobbies and interests, and of accessing services in the community for leisure and recreational purposes. People’s personalised needs were clearly understood by staff and documented within care records.

Person-centred Care

People received care and support based on their individual care and support needs, routines and preferences. People participated in interests, hobbies and activities which were important to them. This included community, social and recreational opportunities. A person told us about their interests and how they had planned to pursue these with their support worker. Relatives were positive about the personalisation of the care and support. A relative said, “We visit [person’s name] whenever we wish. They go out to green spaces (park’s) and they have a big trampoline, they do painting, activities, music and exercises; they have their routines which are important to them.” Another relative said, “My relative now goes to church (not been for a long, long time), shopping all local to them. My relative is brilliant now.”

Staff demonstrated a good awareness of people’s individual care and support needs, routines and preferences. A staff member said, “Care is very person centred, focussed.” Another staff member said, “Choices, routines and preferences are all encouraged and respected.”
